“O you who believe, stand firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah.” (Surah An-Nisa 4:135)
The Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan stands established to uphold the supremacy of the Constitution and to secure the fundamental rights of every citizen. Its creation reflects the constitutional wisdom that the rule of law must be preserved through an independent and specialised forum devoted to the interpretation and protection of the Constitution.
Mindful of the sacrifices made in the cause of Pakistan, and faithful to the vision of Muhammad Ali Jinnah that Pakistan shall be a democratic State founded upon Islamic principles of social justice, this Court regards the Constitution as a sacred national trust. The Preamble affirms that sovereignty belongs to Almighty Allah and that authority exercised by the people is a trust to be discharged within constitutional limits. The Constitution, together with all amendments from the First to the Twenty-Seventh, remains the supreme law of the land and binds all institutions, including this Court.
As Chief Justice, I affirm that this Court shall act with independence, integrity and restraint. Each matter will be decided without fear or favour, guided solely by constitutional command and reasoned adjudication. Public confidence will be strengthened not by words, but by fairness, transparency and fidelity to law.
With this resolve, the Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan stands committed to preserving constitutional supremacy and ensuring that justice remains the enduring foundation of our Republic.
